Paver Calculator

Use the paver calculator to divide a measured surface by the actual face area of one selected paver. Your cutting allowance is applied before the count rounds up to a whole piece, while an optional price stays tied to that piece count. Keep edge restraint, base, joints, and pattern effects in separate takeoffs.

Patio or path

Use the actual face dimensions of one paver. Patterns, joints, borders, and cuts may require a higher waste allowance.

/// Formula & field notes

How this paver estimate works

FormulaPaver count = project area × (1 + waste %) ÷ one-paver face area, rounded up to a whole paver.

Worked example

A 12 ft × 16 ft patio using 8 in × 4 in pavers needs 864 pavers before adding waste or pattern adjustments.

Paver calculator FAQ

Does the count include joint spacing?

The calculator uses the face dimensions you enter. If the manufacturer publishes a modular size that includes the intended joint, enter that modular size; otherwise confirm layout coverage with the product sheet.

How much paver waste should I use?

Simple rectangular layouts may use 5–10%. Curves, diagonal patterns, borders, and color blending often require more. Keep spare pieces for future repairs.

Does ProjectQty calculate base material?

Not on this page. Use the Gravel Calculator for the aggregate base and confirm the pavement section required by local conditions.
