/// Answer-first planning notes
How much grout follows from my tile and joint geometry?
| Planning input | Calculation role | Product check |
|---|---|---|
| Tile and joint dimensions | Describe the joint network | Use actual installed dimensions |
| Selected product factor | Converts geometry into estimated mass | Copy the manufacturer's applicable value |
| Package weight | Rounds estimated mass into bags | Match the selected package |
Dimensional conversion for tile and joints derives from the exact international foot; no generic grout factor is inserted.

How this tile grout estimate works
FormulaBase kg = area m² × ((tile length + tile width) ÷ (tile length × tile width)) × tile thickness × joint width × product factor. Apply waste, divide by package weight, and round up.
Worked example
For 10 m² of 300 × 300 × 10 mm tile with 3 mm joints and a selected factor of 1.5, base grout is 3.0 kg; 10% waste gives 3.3 kg, or one 5 kg package.

Tile Grout calculator FAQ
What should I verify before ordering tile grout?
Confirm field dimensions and actual joint geometry, product factor, and package weight against the exact product or supplier information. ProjectQty shows the assumptions so you can replace planning defaults before ordering whole packages.
How does waste affect the tile grout estimate?
Waste is applied after the base geometry is calculated and before discrete packages or pieces are rounded up. Use a higher allowance for complex layouts, cuts, pattern matching, breakage, or uncertain field dimensions.
Is this tile grout result a professional design?
No. It is a quantity-planning result. Product suitability, movement joints, substrate preparation, water ratio, color consistency, and installation standards require the selected manufacturer's instructions.
